Scents of the week Mar 22 – Mar 28

My perfumes for the week:

Sunday: Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille
Black vanilla absolute, licorice, sandalwood, coconut milk, beeswax, caramelized benzoin, bitter almond, Gaiac wood, tonka bean
I just bought this Fragrance.com decant from Mercari, and it’s lovely!

Monday: Oil Perfumery’s Angel (Mugler)
Top Notes: Sweet Coconut and Flowery Jasmine
Heart Notes: Honey
Base Notes: Patchouli and Bergamot

I’m giving Mugler another try. I had written them off as too “popular”, too “mainstream”. This one is very loud at first, but it dries down to a gorgeous scent that I’m happy to wear.

Tuesday: L’Instant Magic by Guerlain
After the bergamot top notes, L’Instant Magic reveals a musky floral with notes of freshness (rose, freesia). A trail of white musks worked as a “muscinade” (a nod to the celebrated Guerlinade) is warmed by wood and a touch of almond.
I bought this decant from The Perfumed Court. This perfume is so pretty! Powdery, slightly sweet, very light floral.

Wednesday: Mitsouko by Guerlain
Mitsouko marries a fruity note of peach with jasmine flowers and May rose. The mysterious dry-down of the fragrance blends spicy notes with those of underbrush and vetiver.
Another decant from The Perfumed Court. I’m trying out all the Guerlains I’ve missed. This one is not really my style, it’s a very “classic perfume” kind of scent. Do I keep it to sniff now and then, or pass it along? Hmmm..

Thursday: Oil Perfumery’s Coromandel (Chanel)
Top Notes:  Petitgrain, Neroli
Heart Notes: Jasmine, Iris, Rose, Patchouli
Base Notes: Olibanum, White chocolate, White musk, Woods, Benzoin, Amber, Incense

This one is a comfort scent to me. Definitely one that a man or woman could wear. It’s snuggly and warm. Very elegant.

Friday: Cocoa and Cashmere by Clinique
Cocoa, Vanilla, Golden Amber, Musks, Pink Pepper, Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Solar Salicylates.
Another comfort scent. It’s light, not overwhelming at all. I spritzed away, and was able to enjoy it for hours.

I find that I’m wearing a lot of comfort scents, with all the COVID chaos going on. Are you wearing perfumes, or doing anything comforting for yourself? Tell me in the comments below:
