Last week I mentioned how the Facebook Fragrance Friends group is doing an alphabetical Scent of the Day theme. I’ve been joining in, even though I’ve had to dig through my samples to get some of the letters, so here’s my perfumes for the week:
Sunday: Into the Night by Bath & Body Works
A timeless, feminine, alluring blend of dark berries, midnight jasmine & rich amber
I don’t buy a lot of body sprays from B&BW, I usually buy the lotions to use under my other perfumes. But this one is so pretty!
Monday: Jicky by Guerlain
Top Notes: Lemon, Mandarin, Bergamot. Heart Notes: Lavender, Rosemary, Basil, Bay, Orris, Jasmine, Patchouli, Rose, Vetiver, Cinnamon. Base notes: Leather, Amber, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Civet, Tonka bean, Incense, Benzoin, Rosewood
This is another classic perfume that is not really me. But I keep the sample to sniff now and then.
Tuesday: Kayali Elixir 11
ELIXIR | 11 opens with sweet notes of red apple and rose petal essence before revealing a floral heart of rose centifolia and uplifting touches of jasmine sambac from India. Adding depth to the romantic fragrance, warm woody notes of Indonesian patchouli and velvety amber are enveloped by accents of vanilla, leaving behind a long-lasting trail.
I got this sample set from Sephora when they were first released. The scents are all pretty good, but the longevity is not. Elixir 11 is my favorite, I love the way it smells, but I just can’t justify buying a bottle when the scent doesn’t last more than a couple hours.
Wednesday: La Vie est Belle
notes of iris, patchouli, praline, and vanilla
I know this one is so mainstream. I see a lot of people talk crap about it, but it really is a nice scent. It’s warm and comforting, sweet and sultry. I have a particular connection to it, because my dog Harold used to steal the sample from my vanity and run around the house and yard with it. Every time I wear it, I think of him.
Thursday: Mutiny by Maison Margiela
Mixed with jasmine, orange flower, and citrus, the hidden powers of tuberose are revealed: magnetic and ecstatic. A leathery accord created with safran, oud and vanilla beans transforms its character allowed to create a genuine and powerful signature.
This sample was sent to me by a sweet lady on the FFF group. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, but I do! The tuberose is beautiful, and I don’t get much of the leather, thank goodness.
Friday: Noa by Cacharel
Green coriander, sandalwood, benzoin, white musk
I had this perfume years ago and forgot all about it! Then one day I saw someone post about it on FFF, and I had to get it again. It’s a cheapie, but I love it. It’s a fresh, clean white musk scent. Perfect for spring and summer.
Saturday: Ohana by Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie
a gorgeous bridal bouquet of tropical florals: gardenia, tuberose, plumeria, pikake, and water lily bound with maile vine…a refreshing breeze from off the brilliant blue water: green bamboo, hand-tinctured seaweed, and water accord, all upon a smooth base of tropical sandalwood.
If I had gotten married on a beach somewhere, this is the scent I would have worn. It’s a sweet, watery floral, so perfect for a beach wedding.
I hope that you are doing okay during this uncertain time. Stay safe and healthy! If you’re wearing perfume, tell me in the comments below – I’d love to know what you’re wearing. XOXO
